If the coffee contained cream or sugar combine one capful of enzyme laundry detergent and one cup warm water in a fresh dish.

If the stain is persistent or you discover an old dried coffee stain first wet the stain with a bit of water. The use of salt can help absorb the coffee and the water as well from the carpet. If you know your carpet is not a wool or wool blend you can try mixing one tablespoon of ammonia with one cup of water. You only need a few ingredients from your cleaning closet.

The enzymes in the laundry detergent help you to break down the coffee particles. Place a hot iron on the towel for 20 30 seconds. The stain will be slowly lifted into the towel. Gently blot the ammonia solution onto the carpet and wait three to five minutes.

If your coffee contained loads of cream and sugar then this is an ideal option for you. Put some 3 hydrogen peroxide in a spray bottle and generously spray the stain. If your coffee has cream or milk in it you may need an extra cleaner to break up the proteins in the dairy component of the stain. Apply a cleaning solution.

First off you should spritz a bit of cold water on the stain then apply salt on it. Remember that under no circumstances should you use anything with ammonia in to clean your wool or wool blend carpets. A coffee stain on carpet becomes more challenging to clean once it dries but you can use carpet cleaner or items you have around the house to loosen the stain. This will almost lift the solution out of your carpet.
